COOKWARE FAQ

Can I use your cookware on my glass/ceramic or induction stove?

Yes. Our cast iron cookware can be used on any cooking surface: gas, electric coil, glass/ceramic, induction, grill, etc. We take great care to smooth the bottom surface of our cookware to avoid damage to glass/ceramic stove tops, but as with all cookware, please be gentle when moving the skillet. Avoid sliding the skillet if possible; it’s safer to lift and set.

Is your cookware oven, grill and fire safe?

Yes. One of the best features of cast iron is that it can be safely used in or over any heat source. You can even use it for baking. Please be careful handling the cookware after removing it from a closed heat source like the oven, grill or from over the fire. It needs plenty of time to cool.

What kind of cooking utensils should I use with cast iron?

Any kind you like. You don’t have to worry about scratching cast iron with metal utensils. In fact, we recommend metal utensils. The best tool for the job seems to be a basic, old-fashioned metal spatula.

Find one with a straight, flat edge and rounded corners. The flat edge will help you get under your food, while the rounded corners will prevent any gouging.

13.5-Braiser

We were gifted a 13.5-Braiser by our Son and most recently the lid. Fantastic cookware. The entire family are foodies and have a passion for cooking. The large cooking surface is great on the gas grill, induction cooktop or in the oven. Quite versital for all foods - we even cooked a pizza! We have a overhead pot rack where the Braiser lives, working to figure how to store the lid.

13.5 Braiser

Got this brasier just in time for Thanksgiving. Was originally going to us it to roast the turkey on but I smoked the turkeys this year and used this pan for the mac and cheese. Went from the oven to table as a serving dish. Looks beautiful and performs amazing! Not as heavy as I expected. The dual handles makes moving around so easy.

Highly Recommend

If you are thinking of purchasing from this company...do it, you won't be disappointed! I love my braiser and use it frequently. I preordered it, and while it took longer than expected the company kept me in the loop.
I would love a lid for it (hint hint)

Fantastic piece of kit!

I’ve completed the set. Each has its uses! These are all wonderfully smooth, light (considering cast iron), and heat evenly. So far I’ve used the brasier for skillet chicken-stuffing casseroles, and it’s a great one pan solution for brisket breakfast tacos!

Superior Cast Iron

I have several pieces of Lodge cast iron. They are perfectly fine—but nowhere near the quality of Stargazer. I splurged for this braiser pan because I needed a deep dish pizza pan with regular handles and a size that would fit in my oven. Turns out it makes a great bread pudding pan too. I bought a preaseasoned pan, but followed the instructions for maintenance seasoning before the first use. Look at that beautiful patina! I highly recommend splurging for this Stargazer braiser pan. Worth every penny.

Love it. So much space to work. My second pan. So smooth and easy to keep seasoned.

Highend quality

I have to say that I was astonished how lightweight the braiser was! I need a bigger cooktop for actual cooking, but it sits dead flat on the stove and is awesome for baking! The last apple pie got only positive feedback!

In the rotation.

I’ve been using cast-iron for decades. This pan is definitely in the rotation and if you come out with a lid, it will be the rotation.

My third pan, it’s as good as the skillets.

I have the other two skillets; this is very similar and just as good. I have used it about a dozen times now. The seasoning is starting to build up. I like the way it sits flat on the stove; no spinning. I accidentally overheated it a couple times (defective stove) and it did not warp. The size is great, big enough for most anything I need to do.

Great all purpose pan

I initially purchased the braiser use as a deep dish pizza pan, and that worked great. But then I realized that I could also use it as a griddle to make English muffins and tortillas. It fits perfectly on the large hob of my induction top. I'm really pleased with this pan and it's quickly gone until regular rotation.

When cooking becomes sexy

This is such a beautiful piece in my kitchen. I love that it is made in the USA and cooks beautifully. It sears beautifully and meat tastes great in it. This is by far the most sexy piece of cooking equipment I own and I don’t mind having it out on display. I waited a very long time for this to be created and thanks to stargazer for making sure it was done correctly.

The best cast iron pan.

Amazing!!! 🤩 I love this company! Thank you for such amazing product. If I had more money I would buy one every year. Just to support the company.

Greatest Pan I own!

I have 4 great Pots and pans all Cast iron, this is by far my favorite. I followed the directions, washed it good 4-5 times with Dawn, then I did the seasoning with sunflower Oil since it has a high flas point. I did it once a day for 3 days and it came out GREAT. I like to cook on it and then put it in the oven and it cleans up just like all the rest.

Macho Pan

A macho pan for the man who just wants to be a man. Heavy, rugged, and built like old-school American cast iron should be. It cooks as good as it looks and will probably outlast me.

If you could have only one

I have a collection of cast iron. Stargazer is superb. But if I was starting over and could could have only one pan it would be the 13.5 inch Brazer!

Plenty Of Room

I've always had trouble seasoning and keeping cast iron seasoned properly. I think I still have with my Stargazer, but I followed the instructions for initial seasoning and continuous seasoning, but those little patterns still show up anyway, and one my fourth use, some type of dark grey wormy flat stuff showed up in the braiser when I melted my ghee,so I guess I never can see all of the previous residue when I try to clean the braiser each time after I use it.

Anyway, other than that, this braiser is awesome. I love all of the room it has.

My Stargazer makes the first high-quality brand cast iron product I've bought. I wanted something large enough so that I have enough room for cooking up 3 to 4 pounds of ground beef or ground pork for use in the taco bowls I make for lunch or dinner often each week; I could barely cook/stir around 2 lbs. of ground beef in my previous regular-sized skillet without some spilling over the edge.

I also use the braiser to cook up to 5 chicken breasts at once (that's usually what comes in the connected multi-packs of chicken breasts from Wild Pastures). I use coconut oil to season it.

I have learned/realized recently though that in the past, I probably never let previous skillet heat up enough before adding oil or bacon grease or butter, etc. and then adding food. Tonight when I cooked 5 chicken breasts in ghee, I did the "let it heat up for 3-5 minutes on low, then raise it up to medium for another couple of minutes before adding ghee, then about another minute or so before adding the food to start cooking, and for the first time the food/chicken never stuck at all to the cast iron when it was time to turn it over.

I'll shut up now, but I have nothing but great things to say about my 13.5 Inch Cast Iron Braiser from Stargazer. The only reason I have it 4 stars is because I'm not bright enough to use it properly or completely understand total proper use.

I also bought a lid for it, but I don't know when they'll send it. I won't try cooking a pork loin until I get the lid, because those have always dried out whenever I try cooking them in an oven; that lid should keep it nice and moist in the oven.

Glad I read the posted reviews/recommendations!

Glad I read the posted reviews as well as the company's recommendations on initial heat settings and usage. This is a fantastic brazing and searing tool in my kitchen. Just superior to any other pan. After just a couple of months this baby is my "go to" tool. Love it.
Can't wait for the lid to arrive

Beautiful smooth finish

I’ve been using Lodge pans for a while and was always disappointed with how much sticks to them, no matter what I did. I’ve been using this pan for a few weeks now and am so impressed with it right out of the box. I’ve made many different types of dishes with this pan and they all turned out well. Good size (easily fits enough food for 4-6 people) and cleans up nicely. Very happy with the purchase.

Great Skillet

We got the seasoned 13.5” skillet. We love it. We have made a big breakfast all in one pan. Nonstick and USA made! We are happy!

I love it.

Just got this pan and the first thing I noticed was the beautiful design. I used it immediately to cook coconut curry chicken on my induction stove. After a brief preheat of a minute or two, I brought the pan up to temp once and it never warped. I was able to bring the contents to a boil and keep them cooking at a lower heat setting than I expected.

Suffice it to say, this is an artfully crafted cast iron pan with solid, durable construction.

I enjoy my purchase. And I’m sure you will too.

The pans I ALWAYS reach for first

I have 2 countertop cast iron racks. The Stargazers sit amongst my Great Grandmothers Griswolds, my Butterpats and a Smithey.
But... the pans I reach for every single time are always the Stargazers. Every single time!
I finally completed the set. It was my honor to serve our country for 22+ years and it's humbling to have a company offer such a nice discount privately, without drawing attention to themselves, to people that have served, to honor Veteran's Day or Memorial Day. Very special thanks.

People talk about seasoning these pans. I have never done anything but stove top seasoning of the cook surface, about once a year, and the pans are perfectly nonstick and used daily. Just cook, that's all you need to do. Medium heat is all that's needed.

I love that this company stands by the values they started with.
Do a thing. Do it in your own country.
Do it the better than anyone else. Keep your price reasonable.
Don't expand beyond your ability to be the very best at what you do.
Honor and integrity are hard to find these days. Easy to find at Stargazer.

These are the Griswolds of this century. They arrive looking like art and yet, right out of the box, they are ready for generations of feeding us and our families. I love the early months of splotchy *looking* seasoning (it only *looks* like it's gone!) while fading slowly into years of feeding the people that mean the most to me and the smooth dark brown finish that tells of a life well lived. Just like my Great Grandmother's Griswolds, they will tell the same story to the future.
(your teflon and even stainless will end up taking up space in mountains made from trash/landfills)
Buy it for life. A life lived well. Mindful instead of mindless consumerism.
If you can, buy one, even if you have to save pocket change for a year, I predict that Stargazer will be the one you always reach for first.
