COOKWARE FAQ

Can I use your cookware on my glass/ceramic or induction stove?

Yes. Our cast iron cookware can be used on any cooking surface: gas, electric coil, glass/ceramic, induction, grill, etc. We take great care to smooth the bottom surface of our cookware to avoid damage to glass/ceramic stove tops, but as with all cookware, please be gentle when moving the skillet. Avoid sliding the skillet if possible; it’s safer to lift and set.

Is your cookware oven, grill and fire safe?

Yes. One of the best features of cast iron is that it can be safely used in or over any heat source. You can even use it for baking. Please be careful handling the cookware after removing it from a closed heat source like the oven, grill or from over the fire. It needs plenty of time to cool.

What kind of cooking utensils should I use with cast iron?

Any kind you like. You don’t have to worry about scratching cast iron with metal utensils. In fact, we recommend metal utensils. The best tool for the job seems to be a basic, old-fashioned metal spatula.

Find one with a straight, flat edge and rounded corners. The flat edge will help you get under your food, while the rounded corners will prevent any gouging.

Wow, just wow

Absolutely fantastic skillet. I bought the discounted "misfits" version as the price plus shipping allows it to slip into the EU as it is below the threshold to pay duties and taxes, or maybe I just got lucky this time. You in the USA are super lucky to have these pans at the retail price with free shipping, people in the EU must pay expensive shipping and duties. I now have all three pans! The quality of the misfits version is perfect. The inside cooking surface is perfect (I was hoping for it to be so) only after some looking I noticed some ultra minor imperpections on the outside surface. I am extremly tedious when it comes to quality and if I was personally at stargazer I would haven even let this pass perfectly through quality control as a full priced skillet. This is testament to how serious stargazer takes the quality of their products, that even the supposed lower tier have such small defects that I honestly don't consider them defects at all. Really impressed. I only regret not getting the first two pans under the misfits discount. Great job Stargazer!

This pan is now my favorite, I have cast iron.

This pan is fantastic, It will definitely cook up anything I throw at it. I'm getting it seasoned up real nice. Did a big batch of fried taters, onions and peppers. love the easy grab handles. Winner, winner! Thanks for such a great product.

Did they make a mistake…?

This is my first Stargazer skillet, but I’m not new to cast iron. I honestly don’t know how this is a factory second as I can’t find any flaws. While I haven’t used it a lot yet I can say that it cooks like a champion and fits in my kamado grill!

I am unable to spot the defect in this 13 inch

I am unable to spot the defect in this 13 inch two handled pan. Of course it is almost indestructible and appears to heat quicker than a thicker cast iron pan of the same dimensions. I have heard that the seasoning on highly ground and polished cast iron is not as durable as the unfinished rough cast iron version but so far no major issues especially compared to the spun cold rolled mild carbon steel pans from De Buyer and the like. Reseasoning is never an issue in our kitchen so highly recommended for our cooking styles.

Love the braiser mis-fit

I've had the 12.5-inch skillet for a few years and love it. I took a chance on a misfit 13.5 inch braiser. I only noticed a little scratch (hardly a misfit). I would highly recommend getting misfits when available. Next I'd like to get a lid.

My addiction started as a mother's Day gift to myself. I got the small cast iron pan. Highly impressed and we almost never ate anything that wasn't prepared in it! My son bought the big one for me for Christmas that year. Of course it was wonderful and well-used. Then the braiser. Well, I wasn't ready to spend that kind of cash. But alas, I woke up one day after Christmas and found the misfits were available! I got my chance! I bit! This pan is in no way a 'second' but hey, if they say so!
These pans are incredibly well made and dare I say crafted. Seasoned perfectly so that you can fry an egg first use. Do not hesitate! Just buy one. And I'll be the first to welcome you to the club!

One of the finest pans ever owned

This pan is a masterpiece. Room for three normal pancakes. A surface slick and easily maintained. Sort of a hybrid between the cooking aspects of carbon steel and cast iron, heats quick but retains the heat. There's nothing I can say good enough about this pan, except I wish I'd had one 40 years ago. I'm handing it down to my son. It is all the promise of Stargazer company. The lines and production are absolutely square and straight. It cooks great out of the box and is beautiful to....gaze upon. A star. And it's not too heavy for my wife.

Not much of a Misfit

I received the misfit Braiser and was very happy. It is difficult to see the imperfection. This is my second Stargazer pan and am really looking forward to making some larger casserole/one pan dishes.

This is my 3rd Star Gazer pan and now I basically

This is my 3rd Star Gazer pan and now I basically never have to use anything else- I can do EVERYTHING I want to!!

The heat distribution seems to be great, the look is gorgeous, and I'm still looking for what makes this pan a 'misfit'. By my calculations, it's perfect!

What a deal, and what a pan. My son will get this one day and I'm certain he'll love it as much as I do.
